This wine is dedicated to Domenica Paganelli, the grandmother of my wife Donna. Domenica immigrated to the United States from Northern Italy thru Ellis Island in 1915. She settled on the Lower Eastside of Manhattan where she and her husband Francesco made some of the first wines in the New World.
The 2012 Domenica (Merlot) is a split between the Echo Ridge and Kiona vineyards. The wine is finished off with Kiona Cabernet Sauvignon. The large amount of Merlot makes this wine soft but very full. This wine shows off black cherry, currant and sage notes, with wonderful texture and deep color. It is full in the mouth with a nice marriage of oak, balanced with tannin and good acidity.
